Mute a video without losing quality
A video file holds separate streams: one for the picture, one or more for the sound. Removing the audio does not require touching the picture at all. Vidmini copies the video stream byte for byte into a new file and simply leaves the audio out, which is why the page shows "Lossless: no re-encoding" for this tool.
Because nothing is re-encoded, the result is ready in seconds even for long videos, and the resolution, frame rate, colors and sharpness are identical to the original. The file also gets a little smaller, since the sound track no longer takes up space.
When a silent video is what you need
Social posts: many people add music or a voice-over inside Instagram, TikTok or YouTube Shorts and prefer to start from a clean clip, without wind noise, background chatter or a copyrighted song playing in a shop.
Background loops: a video used as a website hero, a presentation backdrop or a screen in a shop window should not carry sound. Browsers generally autoplay only muted videos, and a file with no audio track at all is the safest way to guarantee that. Combine it with the Loop Video tool to make it longer.
Privacy: before sharing a clip, removing the sound makes sure no private conversation is audible in it.
Same format in, same format out
An MP4 stays an MP4, a MOV from an iPhone stays a MOV, a WebM stays a WebM and an MKV stays an MKV. The video codec is not changed either, so the muted file plays everywhere the original did.

No. This tool removes all audio tracks from the whole video. To keep only a part of the clip, trim it first with Trim Video, then remove the sound.
Can I keep the audio as a separate file?

Which formats are supported?
MP4, MOV (including iPhone videos), M4V, WebM and MKV. The muted file keeps the original container. AVI, WMV and FLV files also work: they are first converted on your device by a built-in fallback, which is slower and downloads a 32 MB converter the first time.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is processed by your own browser. Our Content Security Policy only lets the page talk to vidmini.com for its own code, and no tracking cookies are used.
