Aspect ratio presets for every platform
Each social network prefers its own frame shape, and a video in the wrong one ends up with black bars or awkward automatic cropping. Vidmini offers the five ratios that cover almost every case:
9:16 is the tall, full-screen format of TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and Stories. 1:1 is the square format that works in any feed. 4:5 is the slightly taller portrait format that takes up the most room in the Instagram and Facebook feeds. 16:9 is the classic widescreen format for YouTube, presentations and TVs. 4:3 suits older footage and some tablets.
Turning a horizontal 16:9 recording into a vertical 9:16 clip is the most common job: pick 9:16, then slide the frame left or right to follow the person or the action you want to keep.
A live overlay so you see what you keep
While you choose, a frame is drawn over the video preview. Everything inside it will be kept, everything outside will be removed. The position slider moves that frame across the picture, so you can check the result before any processing starts. Play the preview to make sure your subject stays inside the frame for the whole video.
Crop vs resize: what is the difference?
Cropping cuts away the edges of the picture. The pixels you keep are not stretched or scaled: if you crop a 1920×1080 video to 9:16, you get a vertical video about 608 pixels wide and 1080 pixels tall, showing the part of the scene you selected.
Resizing changes the pixel dimensions of the whole picture, for example from 4K to 1080p, without choosing which part of the scene to keep. If a platform needs an exact size such as 1080×1920, use “Continue with this file” to send the cropped clip to the resize tool.
Quality, sound and privacy
Cropping changes the picture itself, so the video has to be re-encoded. Vidmini uses the WebCodecs API and the hardware encoder of your device when one is available, which keeps the process fast. The audio track is copied without any change.
The whole job runs in your browser: the file is never uploaded, there is no account, no watermark and no size limit set by us. Desktop browsers handle files of several gigabytes because the output is streamed to the browser’s private storage; on phones, free memory is the practical limit.

Can I draw a free-form crop area?

Does cropping reduce quality?
The kept area is not scaled, but the video is re-encoded, which causes a small loss that is rarely visible. The audio is copied as-is. HDR videos from recent iPhones may look slightly less vivid after re-encoding.
Will my cropped video have a watermark?
No. Vidmini never adds a watermark, logo or intro, and there is nothing to pay to remove one.
Is my video uploaded to a server?
